When we decided we wanted to remodel our home, all was well and good. The problem was I had no idea where to start, what was next, how to do any of it. Fortunately, my dear friend, Barbara was an expert in virtually everything I needed to know from the smallest detail to the grandest plan. If I dreamt it, she could manifest it. As I read “The Bajaro Method”, I thought that the author’s understanding of the emotional impact of our environments was helpful. At first I did not understand what Barbara Kaplan meant when she said that “Rooms don’t have feelings, you do.” Then, as I continued through the chapters, I had an “A-ha” moment. I came to a deeper understanding of how the design choices I make affect the emotions of the occupants. As a young designer, it is up to me to ask the right questions and make a healing, comforting and personal environment. I also have been inspired to look around my own home and think about what changes I want to make for myself and my family. I am pleased with the insight that I gained from reading this book.

I so LOVE what you did with the house. Three people who have been coming to my house for a while now, this was their first time noticing the small table in the “open pantry” as I call it. We are enjoying more eating at the dining room. Last night we put all the rugs in and you should see the difference that it made. So warm, I wish you could see it. My skill set doesn’t include any of those required to envision a beautiful and gracious home. I want to open the door, walk in and have it be me and done. How to get there, well, there was the rub! I didn’t even know my colors, never even thought about them. This is not to say that I was lazy and disinterested in everything. I have my reason to be and I feel very comfortable in my role on the planet. I just didn’t know at that time that I had any crossover skills. Barbara was able to get me to focus, gently and lovingly, and to become interested in selecting fabrics and tasks of that sort. Ultimately, all of the choices were mine and my husband’s. I understand why I made each and everyone and I love it all. Barbara’s gentle guidance opened me up to this new world that I tip toed in until I became comfortable. Barbara was the “wind beneath my wings.”
